Meet Gloria

WHERE I COME FROM

Being the daughter of immigrant parents, raised in my early years in the barrio of Santa Ana, I was taught the value of community and compassion for others. Now, as a resident of over 42 years in Anaheim, I have brought these values to my neighborhood and to this city I am proud to call home. My husband and I raised our family in the same west Anaheim neighborhood we still live in. We've been blessed to be part of a strong community.

PASSION FOR MY COMMUNITY

My community activism started years ago when my neighbors and I had had enough of the drug and gang-related problems the Rancho La Palma area was experiencing. We met, we organized, and we launched monthly flashlight walks, plus neighborhood cleanups followed by a street party all supported by Anaheim Neighborhood Services. I organized the John Marshall Park Christmas Tree lighting and took leadership roles in the Savanna High School Football and Band Booster Clubs. I have always valued the diverse community in which we’ve raised our kids. Since then, I’ve also been proud to serve as a part of or member of the North Anaheim Neighborhood Council, Anaheim Leadership Academy, Public Awareness through Citizen Education (PACE) Program, Anaheim Community Services Board, and more. Most recently, I helped lead Anaheim First, a community non-profit established to ensure Anaheim residents and neighborhoods would have a voice in improvements made by the City in the community.

Gloria will Advocate for
West Anaheim

In 2021, when our West Anaheim City Council seat became vacant, my years of community service were recognized, and I was appointed to fill this vacancy representing District 2. Since then, I have continued the work I’ve been doing revitalizing our neighborhoods, making our parks and public spaces safe places for families, and encouraging the growth of Anaheim’s economy and opportunities for job creation. That work is well underway with so many exciting possibilities on the horizon, but that work has also just begun.

I am proud to announce that I am running for election to the Anaheim City Council in 2022 and I humbly ask for your support and your vote.
